Overview
In February 2021, Maris Stella School restarted its school improvement efforts using its WASC Self Study 2020 Report as a guide.
The issue of having a clear curriculum which is implemented through instruction and evaluated with data based assessment was clear, both in the WASC self study report and during prioritizing and initial projects done by the school in the summer of 2021.
A curriculum framework is what is needed. It's development however might take a few years. Pending completion of its curriculum framework, MSS will take an interim solution to collect actionable data for monitoring and improving student learning. MSS pursues a three component approach:
- Web based curriculum documents - Establish an official, single source of easily accessible curriculum documents. (Aug 2021 - Present)
- Report Card System - Collect student performance data into a database so student performance can be analyzed and monitored. (Jan 2022 - Present)
- Syllabus Tracking System - Collect curriculum implementation data into a database so what students learn can be analyized and monitored. (Jul 2023 - Present)
In July 2023 MSS began work on this component of the effort. In October, a $6,000 contract was executed between MSS and Mr. Edwel Ongrung to complete a demonstration project for this component.
